Appreciating Our Dads

Happy Father's Day!

I wanted to write a quick post on something I've been thinking about in these days leading up to this Father's Day.

With so much attention these days (and for a long time actually) being given to the feminism agenda, I think our culture has lost a lot of appreciation for fathers and all that they do for their wives and children.

At first glance (and maybe because I'm a girl) I think the dad's job can sometimes look easier than a mama's. Now, don't get me wrong I know mamas have A LOT to fulfill in their role too. But, since it is Father's Day, I've been thinking over all of the different things that my daddy does and has done ever since he was 20...when I was born. And honestly...I don't know how he does it all.

He has faithfully worked to provide for our family in many different jobs and many different states.

He has come home tired and still gone outside to play with us only to come in and stay up late working on college homework and go to work the next day.

He has devotions with us and takes the time to explain the lesson to even the youngest of us kids.

He includes us in his projects, whether it's building something, working on the car, finishing the basement etc. And sometimes those things take a lot longer with help. ;)

He has always been ready to listen and give advice when any of us has a problem or is stressed.

He strives to honor God by not only serving his family but others around him.

He loves my mama and us children so well that I know none of us could imagine our lives without him.

These, and so many other things, my daddy has done for 23 years. I am so thankful for all that he has sacrificed for me and my siblings. He makes each one us feel loved, happy, and safe.

And I know so many other dads that are doing the same thing for their children and believe me, it means so much to us.

    I love you Daddy.

    Happy Father's Day!
